State of Emergency (2007)
Blue tarp, grommets, fluorescent surveyor twine, rare earth magnets, steel discs. Each blue tarp triangle is held separately in place by three strings connected to three magnets, which are attracted to three steel discs around the room. These three coordinates fix the angle and placement of the individual triangle of blue tarp. There are 60 magnetic attractors in total locally placed on the floor, ceiling, and walls. If the viewer trips a magnet as she tries to circumnavigate the piece then the triangle will fall away from the centre destroying the perfect solid, the icosahedron. Exhibited at Open Space, Victoria. Curated by Helen Marzolf.
